I have always been fascinated with firearms since childhood.  I skipped the Daisy Red Rider BB Gun and for my first gun got a Benjamin Pellet Rifle.  Since that time my collection of guns has grown along with my knowledge.

I am an NRA Training Counselor and a NRA Certified Firearms Instructor in the disciplines of Basic Pistol and Personal Protection.  I am a NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and a NC Conceal Carry Instructor.

I have been shooting USPSA/IPSC competitively for more than 20 years and have been an NROI Range Officer for over 19 years.  Like most USPSA shooters, I reload all ammunition I shoot.  Because of my interest in pistol shooting I became a pistol instructor so I could pass on my skills, knowledge and ability to other people who want to learn how to safely and correctly handle pistols.

I still shoot and help officiate USPSA matches to include the largest USPSA match put on in North Carolina, The NC Section, which has about 350 competitors.

I have been a Firearms Instructor at the Sir Walter Gun Club, The Durham County Wildlife Club and The Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center.  Currently I am a member of the Sir Walter Gun Club and work on the USPSA Committee giving my time assisting in setting up and running matches.

While working at the Wake County Range I was a Range Safety Officer and Instructor.  I also ran the Action Pistol Program.  As such my program has been featured in an article in Concealed Carry Magazine concerning shooting and self defense.  My Action Pistol Program was designed to teach people how to shoot while moving, retreating and from cover in a manner designed to help people work on their skills to simulate personal protection in a real life situation.

I believe in the right to carry and the right to self defense.  I love teaching Concealed Carry Classes and passing my knowledge and experiences on to students.  I make my classes interesting by talking about some of my own experiences that help make certain points in my classes.  As a private investigator of 45 years handling many cases involving shootings, I can talk about what happens when a person pulls the trigger in a shooting or self defense case.

I offer private classes for individuals or groups.  I can come to your office, home or other location to put on a class.  The only other requirement is a suitable range, which I take care of unless the class has other arrangements.

I emphasize firearm safety and range safety in all of my classes.  I want everyone to feel safe, especially when on a firing line.  The only time I have failed anyone in one of my classes was when they continually exhibited unsafe gun handling.
